NETWORK PROMO DEMOS
My philosophy to producing network promo demos: I don’t believe a demo has to be jammed together in under a minute. People say producers only listen to the first 5 seconds or so. That’s not exactly right. Coming from personal experience as a producer, we stop listening after 5 seconds if the voice is not what we’re looking for. If the voice is good, we listen to the end.
I think it’s important to have six distinct reads, and it must sound real. It must sound like a promo that aired.
